The car
The 1302 — the Super Beetle — was the first Beetle with a proper boot rather than a luggage shelf: MacPherson struts at the front and a semi-trailing-arm rear axle bought the space, and the car grew a wider, flatter bonnet and a curved windscreen. The 1302 S carried the 1,584 cc engine at 50 hp DIN. Everything else is the same Beetle: air-cooled flat-four behind the axle, four speeds, and a torsion-bar front end replaced here by the struts.
