The car
The E-Type took the racing D-Type’s monocoque centre tub, its dry-sump six and its inboard rear brakes and sold them as a road car. The 3.8 is the early one: triple SU carburettors, 265 hp, an outside-bonnet-catch bonnet that hinges forward, and a flat floor with a short, cramped cabin. Independent rear suspension, four-wheel disc brakes and rack-and-pinion steering were all standard from the first car.
